Goodreads: Harriet Manners knows almost every fact there is.

She knows duck-billed platypuses don’t have stomachs.
She knows that fourteen squirrels were once detained as spies.
She knows only one flag in the world features a building.

And for once, Harriet knows exactly how her life should go. She’s got it ALL planned out. So when love is in the air, Harriet is determined to Make Things Happen!
If only everyone else would stick to the script…

Has GEEK GIRL overstepped the mark, and is following the rules going to break hearts all over again?

It is no secret that even as an adult I love the Geek Girl series and Holly Smale never fails to make me love Harriet Manners.

This latest instalment to the series is brilliant because we take a step back from the modelling world and get to know Harriet’s friends and family a lot more.

What I like most about this story is the new characters we are getting to know such as Jasper and India, but also the unexpected appearances of two characters we met in previous novels.

The characteristics of Harriet and her friends and family just get better as the books go on, and her dad never fails to make me laugh.

The plot itself was a bit slow at first and I did spend a lot of time wondering if we were ever going to see Harriet do something disastrous on a photo shoot. I was also a bit disappointed that we only got a small amount of modelling from Harriet, but this might just be to show that she is growing up and her life is changing.

Another thing I liked was not being able to predict what was going to happen in some parts of the novel. Harriet is an unpredictable person, even though she lives her life through charts and timetables. There were a few unexpected turns throughout the book which I think really added to the story.

Although I may be turning 20 this year I would highly recommend this series as we follow Harriet as she gets older each year and it is fun to watch her as she changes and learns new things. i can’t wait to see what Holly Smale comes up with next.

Have you read the Geek Girl series? What do you think about it?
