Cress by Marissa Meyer (Lunar Chronicles #3)
This series just keeps getting better and better!
SPOILERS IF YOU HAVE NO READ CINDER AND SCARLET!
Goodreads: In this third book in the Lunar Chronicles, Cinder and Captain Thorne are fugitives on the run, now with Scarlet and Wolf in tow. Together, they’re plotting to overthrow Queen Levana and her army.
Their best hope lies with Cress, a girl imprisoned on a satellite since childhood who’s only ever had her netscreens as company. All that screen time has made Cress an excellent hacker. Unfortunately, she’s just received orders from Levana to track down Cinder and her handsome accomplice.
When a daring rescue of Cress goes awry, the group is separated. Cress finally has her freedom, but it comes at a high price. Meanwhile, Queen Levana will let nothing prevent her marriage to Emperor Kai. Cress, Scarlet, and Cinder may not have signed up to save the world, but they may be the only hope the world has.
The Lunar Chronicles is one of my favourite fantasy series that I am currently in the middle of. Cress is the third book in the series and just adds more humour, adventure, action and plot twists than ever before.
Cress’s character is very different to those we have already met and at first I did find it hard to connect with her. But once you start to understand why Cress is socially awkward and what she has been through in her life then the story starts to get better.
What I liked the most about this novel was how all of the characters ended up being a part at some point yet they were all still linked in a very clever way. The different story lines within the book were a lot better than compared to Scarlet. With Cress, I was not confused with the different plots and adventures the characters were going on.
The amount of action in this novel and plot twists really upped the anti and kept me on the edge of my seat. However, the very last few chapters I felt could have been longer, and added more dialogue between Cinder and Kai.
Overall, Cress just added so much more to this series and I cannot wait to pick up Winter, the final book!
