World After By Susan Ee – Second book in the Penryn & the End of Days trilogy
This book just brought the trilogy to life and made me fall even more in love with the characters.
Goodreads: When a group of people capture Penryn’s sister Paige, thinking she’s a monster, the situation ends in a massacre. Paige disappears. Humans are terrified. Mom is heartbroken.
Penryn drives through the streets of San Francisco looking for Paige. Why are the streets so empty? Where is everybody? Her search leads her into the heart of the angels’ secret plans where she catches a glimpse of their motivations, and learns the horrifying extent to which the angels are willing to go.
Meanwhile, Raffe hunts for his wings. Without them, he can’t rejoin the angels, can’t take his rightful place as one of their leaders. When faced with recapturing his wings or helping Penryn survive, which will he choose?
The first book in this series was something I would never normal read. I love the dystopian genre but I have never read anything about angels.
This series has opened up a brand new world for me to explore and I am loving it.
The characters are so diverse and make this book what it is. Penryn, our female protagonist is a the hero that may look small but has a nasty bite and can kick but. Along with this you have Raffe, the angel who has lost his wins and with the help of Penryn is trying to track them down and control the angels that have gone wild.
In the second book we meeting characters old and new but thankfully Penryn’s crazy mother is still around to bring humour to the book.
The plot is a lot more fast paced than the first book and at times I did wish it would slow down so we could get more depth to the story but the action scenes made up for it.
The only reason I did not give this story stars was due to the ending not being dramatic or hooking enough to make me want to read the next book straight away.
But I would still highly recommend this series!
