I was so excited when I received this book for review. Holly Smale I love you!
After already reading the first three books and falling in love with Harriet Manners and how clumsy and geeky she is I knew I was going to love the next in the series.
Just incase you don’t know how the books go here is a quick timeline. Harriet introduces herself with lots of facts you never knew about until you read the book. Harriet goes on a modelling job. Harriet does something to upset someone. Harriet makes huge mess of things and gets into trouble. Somebody, usless Nick, Wilbur, Annabel or Bunty comes to the rescue. Harriet realises she needs to stop worrying about things so much. The end.
But this book was different. Harriet is now a sixth former and everything has changed. To be fair she wanted everything to change but instead of focusing on the modelling aspect of Harriet life and her going off to do different shoots, it focuses on Harriet’s life and how the modelling has affected her.
At first I was disappointed that there weren’t many modelling adventures for Harriet in this book but then it hit me as to why.
This book shows how everything has changed for Harriet. How she has to grow up., make new friends and move on with her life and move on from Nick.
Holly Smale has used the previous three books to show us Harriet progressing in the modelling industry – not always so gracefully- but progressing through life. Now she is 16, where big decisions are made and Alevels begin.
I take my hat off to Smale for making this series progress in the way that it has. 4.5 stars!
